Our Story

Alberta-Owned.
Safety-Driven.
Client-Focused.

Strategic Transportation Ltd. was built on a simple premise: deliver freight reliably, safely, and with the kind of personal service that larger carriers can't provide.

Who We Are

The STL
Difference

Strategic Transportation Ltd. is an Alberta-based carrier specializing in oilfield, industrial, and cross-border freight. We serve energy companies, construction firms, manufacturers, and industrial contractors across Western Canada and into the United States.

Our tagline โ€” "Large enough to serve you, small enough to care" โ€” reflects our operational philosophy. We have the equipment, certifications, and capacity to handle complex freight challenges, combined with the responsiveness and personal accountability that only a focused, dedicated team can provide.

Every client has direct access to dispatch and management. Every driver operates under a documented Journey Management Plan. Every load is handled with the care and compliance it deserves.

Our Mission

"To exceed expectations and prevent losses by providing innovative, safe, and environmentally responsible transportation solutions in all aspects of our business."

โ€” STL HSE Policy Statement

Goal Zero

Every STL employee and contractor operates with a goal zero mindset โ€” no harm to people, environment, assets, or our reputation. This is not aspirational. It is operational standard.

Our Values

The Five C's of
STL Excellence

Our Health, Safety & Environmental culture is built on five foundational pillars that guide how we work every day.

Competency

All employees and contractors receive the HSE and safe practices training needed for their role. We track competency, not just completion.

Compliance

We meet or exceed all applicable laws, regulations, and policies โ€” from Alberta OHS legislation to CBSA customs requirements.

Conservation

We're committed to protecting Alberta's environment in all operational areas, reducing resource use and recovering usable products where possible.

Consultation

Open communication with government, regulatory agents, Indigenous communities, and the public on all HSE matters affecting our operations.

Continuous Improvement

Annual HSE program reviews, performance-driven targets, and a culture that rewards the identification of problems โ€” not their concealment. Stop Work Authority is encouraged and protected at every level of the organization.
